Zoom In | Horace Pippin

Artifactual History Appraisal is delighted to announce yet another new video series, "Zoom In." This series will examine specific artists, designers, and other topics of interest and literally 'zoom in' on interesting things we see, all while we are literally 'zoomin'. Get it? In this first Zoom In video, we look at West Chester, PA artist, Horace Pippin. We'll briefly review Pippin's life and career, take a close look at works depicting Pippin's (and Patrick's) hometown of West Chester, Pennsylvania, and discuss what the current market for his work looks like. Along the way, we'll touch on World War I, have words with Albert Barnes, and take a good and long gleeful gander at Smedley Butler.

Meet the Appraisers | Patrick McIntyre (part 1): Isamu Noguchi and Southeastern Pennsylvania

Artifactual History Appraisal is happy to announce a new video series, "Meet the Appraisers." This series will be dedicated to -- you guessed it -- meeting appraisers. We're going to use this opportunity to further introduce ourselves to you; in Patrick's case because he is new to the firm, and in Sarah's case because there's many fascinating things to know about her. Over time, we're looking forward to using this series to introduce you to an arsenal of colleague appraisers and other special guests. In part 1 of Patrick's footage, listen to him reflect on his affinity for the work of Isamu Noguchi and reveal his deep roots and connections to the art and culture of Southeastern Pennsylvania, including the work of the Wyeths, Horace Pippin, Wharton Esherick, and George Nakashima.
