The Art Elevator Episode #22 - Cindy Charleston Rosenberg on Be Smart Before You Buy Art

April 7, 2026 Larissa Wild and Sarah Reeder, Co-Hosts of The Art Elevator Podcast

Cindy Charleston-Rosenberg, ISA CAPP, is the President and Founder of the Art Appraisal Firm, LLC, a national art valuation and advisory dedicated exclusively to the appraisal of fine art.

Utilizing more than 30 years of art market experience, Cindy has written and presented widely on complex art appraisal methodology, diligent art collection practices and meaningful appraiser qualification criteria for a broad range of audiences. She has won numerous national awards for thought leadership and service to the appraisal profession.

Ms. Charleston-Rosenberg is a past president of the International Society of Appraisers, the largest professional association of credentialed personal property appraisers in the United States and Canada. She continues to serve the profession in a variety of leadership roles, including as chair of ISA’s Specialty and Advanced Studies Committee.

Cindy is currently serving on the board of the Montgomery County Estate Planning Council, and as an elected At Large Trustee for The Appraisal Foundation, the nation’s foremost authority on the valuation profession, Congressionally authorized to set appraisal practice standards and appraiser qualification criteria. She is committed to helping educate the legal and wealth management professions, as well as the public, on the crucial importance of objective and qualified appraisers, and the risks of failing to properly vet valuation experts.

In this episode you will learn:

  • How can a buyer of art protect themselves from being taken for a ride?

  • What is the basis for saying this is authentic and needs no further examination or research?

  • What does not constitute proof of authenticity?

And much more!
